PSA: Do not use Kate

Hello all,

since several students already had issues: Do NOT use the Kate editor installed in the VM for editing files in the project, especially not .ref files. Beware

Kate is the text editor used by default for opening all kinds of text files. Yes, you should not use the default editor.

The reason is that this editor tries to be clever by stripping of trailing spaces and newlines at the end of file. However, the .ref files need an extra space at the end. Kate just deletes this every time you safe, and then you no longer pass the tests.

Instead, use VSCode or nano.

vim and nano by default put a newline at the end which failed my custom tests.
I had to printf ‘stuff’ > stuff.ref

you can also change that from the settings
